Boeing has finally given a model number to their 7E7 concept. It’s now called the 787 Dreamliner.

So far, the only U.S. carrier to order the new jet is Continental, who placed an order for 10 of them last month. I think she’s a neat looking airplane, totally different styling-wise than anything else out there. Sure [...]

Godspeed, Johnny…

Johnny Carson died yesterday. What a crying shame. Aside from my relatives, I think that watching The Tonight Show when I was a kid helped me form part of the sense of humor I have today. I’m going to miss Carnac and Floyd R. Turbo the most.

How To Talk Italian…

The daughter’s had the sniffles the last few days. I never realized what a blessing it is to have the ability to blow my own nose until I had to take care of an eight-month-old with a head cold. She gets really upset when we whip out the suction-snot-slurper thingy. The sad thing is that [...]

It’s been a few days. The trip I was took everything out of me (yet again). I don’t know what it is about overnighting in places like Cleveland and Detroit that just drains all the positivity out of me. Crappy, cold, snowy, slushy, bullshit weather. Blech!!
Not a whole lot to report on the Southwest Airlines [...]

What do you do?!?!

What do you do when you’re in the middle of a crowded airplane as everyone is deplaning and you find out that you’ve just been hired at the airline you’ve always wanted to work for?
I didn’t do what I wanted to do, I’ll tell you that. I wanted to jump up and down and yell [...]

The "I STILL feel like crap rant!"
January 13th, 2005 · No Comments
I still feel like crap. I visited the doctor yesterday and was told that I had viral laryngitis. The recommended treatment was what I expected…rest the voice, drink lots of fluids, and take Tylenol and vitamin C. Last night, though, this thing seemed to travel up on me, and now my head is plugged up [...]

The "I Feel Like Crap" Rant!
January 11th, 2005 · No Comments
Well I made it home from Chicago. I feel miserable, though it’s not the kind of miserable that would keep me from moving around the house. It’s kind of an upper-respiratory/sore throat thing, I guess. My voice is all gravelly and it sort of hurts to talk.
I called the doctor this morning to see if [...]

Sick…

I’m calling in sick. My throat is sore and I’m losing my voice. Because my trip doesn’t go back through Denver until we’re done on the last day, I’m having to finish in Chicago. I hope I’m able to get home from tonight. That’d suck if I’m not.

Tsunami
January 10th, 2005 · No Comments
A few weeks ago, there was a HUGE earthquake off the coast of Sumatra in the Indian Ocean that lifted the Indian tectonic plate a whopping 60 feet. Being that the subduction zone where the earthquake occurred is under about 30,000 feet of ocean, the rapid uplift displaced trillions of gallons of sea water and [...]

Is it any wonder??

All-in-all, a smooth day today. One little thing threw me into a bit of a tizzy, though.
As a pilot for SkyWest, I fly passengers under the United banner as a service to United Airlines. They pay us to haul people that they ticket so that we can bring those people from their small cities to [...]
