So Long, 2008!!

January 2nd, 2009 · 5 Comments

A crazy year behind me now.

My block time in the 737 for 2007 was 843 hours and 05 minutes. Slacking, clearly. That’s 24 hours less than last year (essentially one whole four-day trip less this year than last), and cleary shy of the 1,000 hour FAA maximum.

Yes, every year there are a few guys at the company who get close to that 1,000 hours max. I don’t know how they stay sane.

Anyhow, with the completion of the year 2008, my total time in the 737 is a shade under 3,000 hours over a three-and-a-half year span. My average per month over that time is about 72 flight hours, with the monthly high being 98 hours and the monthly low being 31 hours (due to vacation and a bout with strep throat in the same month…October 2006).

Here’s some pics from the road that I took in 2008 (click the image to see it full-sized):

Happy New Year, everyone!

    Hi there,

Some amazing photos you’ve got here – I’m looking forward to getting some prints of the 737′s at sunset in KBUR. Awesome stuff. Just have to wait for my funds to recover from the usual Christmas & NYE hit :)

I’m enjoying following the blog – even if there’s non-flying stuff in there – it’s all good. I have two separate blogs for flying vs non-flying, but that’s my approach to it :)

On a side note – the “About” link at the top of the blog leads to a 404 error. Ooops.

Looking forward to viewing more text & photos in 2009 :)

For that matter, so does the “Archives” link. I’d just as soon remove the “Archives” link, but I’m not savvy enough to figure out how. As for the “About” link, I don’t know where to go to edit that page. Any ideas?

Thanks for the future business! Keep in mind that you can opt to have any print you purchase from my website framed and matted for about 1/2 the cost of having it done at a local framing shop!

Nevermind! I found the code for the links and deleted it.

Beautiful photos! I hope ’09 brings you closer to that magical 1000 hours you’ve been wanting ;) As for me, I think I was at the 760 hour mark, but that was plenty for me…

    Happy new year!

My company has figured out a way to be a 121 carrier while operating under 135 crew scheduling rules. I will have been here for 4 years next week, and for the last 3 years I’ve logged 1000+ hours a year. I finished 2008 with 1120. I’ll try even harder to time out this year, maybe then I can get Christmas off!
