How To Talk Italian…

January 22nd, 2005 · No Comments

The daughter’s had the sniffles the last few days. I never realized what a blessing it is to have the ability to blow my own nose until I had to take care of an eight-month-old with a head cold. She gets really upset when we whip out the suction-snot-slurper thingy. The sad thing is that because we’ve had to use that on her regularly, she’s associated it with us putting her on her back on her changing table. So now, even if it’s just to change a poopy diaper, she starts to cry as if she’s being tortured when we lay her down on that thing.

Bambina povero! That’s “poor baby” in Italian.

I can say a few other things in Italian.

“Il portello รจ fatto di minestra.” That means “The door is made of soup.”

“Sembrate bei alla luce della candela, compagno.” That means “You look beautiful in the candle light, buddy!”
