Read This Book!

I don’t care what your political leanings are. If you want to understand how real Conservatives think (and the term “real Conservatives” absolutely does NOT apply to Republicans over the last ten years), then you absolutely must read this book:

It is an absolutely no-nonsense, no pulled-punches look at Constitutionalism and Conservatism and why we who consider ourselves to be Constitutionalists and real Conservatives believe what we believe. It will also tell you why we who consider ourselves Constitutionalists and real Conservatives are afraid of the direction our nation took when FDR came up with “The New Deal.”

I don’t get overtly political very often, here (I prefer to do my political posts covertly), but this book is (in my opinion) a very succinct summary of my way of thinking.

Perhaps some “Interesting Passages” are in order?

Just wanted to give you a big Thumbs-Up for noting Levin’s book. This is probably the best start-to-finish listing and reasons to explain Conservatism. Nice work! This is my first time reading your blog, and I’ve bookmarked it, and will continue to do so, as a fellow Conservative, and aviation enthusiast!

No problem. I actually saw a post on airliners.net asking about interesting blogs from pilots. This one specifically was not listed, but it was listed in the Flying Blogroll of “Blogging at FL250″.

Ah, yes. Sam’s a good buddy! He has a much more aviation-centric blog than I do these days, too.

Truer than you know: “illegitimate denial or diminution of his private property enslaves him to another and denies him his liberty”. Worse still is the “legitimate” denial of same. After 30 years of clearing our land and building a house, almost overnight we have seen our property diminished by thousands of low-flying planes and helicopters. The bay in front of our home expropriated without compensation for use as an airport. Our loss is your gain.

    Where is that?
