The Return Of The Kings!!

October 7th, 2005 · 5 Comments

The 2005-2006 NHL season kicked off on Wednesday night, too! As I understand it, there was quite a turnout for the opening night games. Across the league there were 13 sold-out games and an overal attendance of 98%! That’s great for the league!

My Los Angeles Kings were handed an opening-day loss by the Dallas Stars. The Kings scored four goals in the first period, only to be completely shut down by Dallas (through a few idiotic penalties and a LOT of idiotic refereeing) for the following two periods as Dallas scored 5 un-answered goals. The Kings penalty-killing looked a bit lethargic and their power-play didn’t look much better. That combined with some new rules that the players need to get used to resulted in a lot of stupid penalties.

Still, they came home last night to their home opener to beat the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2 in front of a sold-out house. Last night’s game was much better than Wednesday’s. There was a much more physical style of hockey being played by the Kings. Lots of good checking and hitting as well as fairly solid fundamental work. I think once the team has got a few more games under its belt, they’ll gel just fine and will work together well.

Jeannen and I are going to the game against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night next week! We can’t wait to throw on our jerseys and yell and scream a bit for our Kings!!

Jeannen and I had our 8th wedding anniversary on the 4th. We didn’t get a chance to go out the way we normally do, since our normal source of babysitting was out of town. Instead, I made a great Italian dinner of chicken Parmesan, zucchini, and pasta with homemade Alfredo sauce. Yes, I made the sauce myself, and dare I say it was the best Alfredo sauce I’ve ever tasted. You wouldn’t know it by looking at me, but I’m kind of a food connoisseur!

It hardly feels like we’ve been married eight years, let alone together for twelve! Together, we’ve seen pretty much everything important that’s happened in our adult lives. It’s good to be married to a woman like her.

I apologize if this sounds weird, but I am doing a few PHX-BUR RTs in the next few weeks to take advantage of the current WN RR credit promos. I would like to meet one of my favorite bloggers, if only for a minute, if any of these flights are on your line.

I was at the Stars/LA Game last week-center ice 8 rows up. It was definitely not one of the Stars better showings. But, their performance speaks for itself in the last four games…
